In 2007, poachers slaughtered the last four free-roaming northern rhinos in the Garamba National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
On March 19, 2018, in the Ol Pejeta reserve of Kenya, Sudan, the last male of the Ceratotherium simum cottoni species passed away at the age of around forty-five, as the result of a relapsed infection of his right-hand back leg.
Michał Kmiecik’s NORTHERN WHITE series depicts the last ten northern white rhinoceroses: Nadi, Angalifu, Nola, Nesari, Nasi, Nabiré, Suni, Sudan, Naji, and Fatu.
